Altenew CAF African Daisy

Welcome to the Altenew blog hop celebrating the newest Craft a Flower: African Daisy. I really loved working with this set. The die cuts were easy to line up and put together. If you are hopping along with us, you have just come from Sande Woodson and your next stop is Mindy Eggen. If you would like more inspiration or to see the full hop list, check out Altenew’s Card Blog for more details.

For my project today, I used different Altenew embossing powders to color the different die cuts. I like to add embossing ink onto a sheet of scrap cardstock, add the desired embossing powder, heat set and then die cut my pieces. Let me know in the comments if you have used embossing powder to color your die cuts.

The CAF African Daisy flowers have three layers of petals. On the first layer I inked up my paper with Razzleberry ink. The second layer was made from Razzleberry embossing powder. The third layer is Golden Peach embossing powder. The center of the flowers have three layers as well: Rose Gold embossing powder, Warm Sunshine Paper and Paper Bag Paper. The leaves were cut from Just Green card stock with Emerald ink blended over them.

The background uses the Dotted Starburst debossing cover die to provide some interest and detail. I had a left over Fine Frames Diamonds die cut from Gilded Cardstock. The hugs sentiment is from the Script Words die set and was die cut from paper that had been embossed with Platinum embossing powder.

The Craft a Flower is a monthly subscription from Altenew. Once you sign up, you can preview next month’s release and decide if you want to purchase or skip it. The subscription program is a great way to make sure you don’t miss out on the amazing Craft a Flower die sets.

  1. I love that you used embossing powder. It was my gateway drug into stamping. This die set is going to be a favorite of mine.

Lovely and inspiring. This African Daisy set is lovely and you really know how to showcase it.

    1. Oh thank you so much! It’s hard to tell but the texture from the embossing powder is a neat effect.

    1. Thanks Joni. Sometimes it’s a good thing to not clean up your desk. That Diamond frame was left over from another project.
