About

My name is Amy and I am a mom to twins, wife to a supportive husband and teacher to many. With all the demands on my time, I was pulled into too many directions; stretched too thin. Since I wasn’t taking the time for myself, I wasn’t being authentic in my many roles.

In a desire to reclaim myself, I turned to crafting. Crafting has allowed me to exercise my creative self and turn on a different part of my brain. I love to make useful things and enjoy giving them to friends and family.

Even through all the upheavals, moves, and tribulations, I loved to craft but just didn’t have the time or space. During our last move, I promised myself that I would finally have a dedicated space for crafting. So when we looked for houses, it was a priority for the house to have space for crafting.

Finally, I ended up with a space, but there was just never enough time. With little ones, a job, household duties, my scrap-land went unused. At the same time, stress began to take over my life. I didn’t feel present with my children, my husband or within my job. I felt happy when I was in my craft room, making birthday gifts for my children’s friends and creating items for my children and for the house. Crafting was making me happy and relieving stress, but how could I make time for it?

Now, we have a mainly well oiled scheduled house. Everyone does their part and I do not feel guilty taking the time to craft because I have built in the time. I enjoy crafting with my children and they have a space that is their own within scrap-land. My life will never be stress free but at least I can enjoy creating and being present with my family.

I love this quote. I made this with my Cricut using Don Juan font. The Cricut traced the letters and I colored them in. I added various rub ons to enhance the image. This now hangs on my craft room wall to remind me to not dwell on the negative and to keep pushing forward.

Through this website, I hope to share my love of creating and a return to the tradition of making it yourself. Please enjoy your time here and I hope you will try some ideas out and continue to spread the craft.
