Thankfulness series, pt 1

Thank you cards

Sometimes in your life, the right person comes around just at the right time to help you continue on your journey. I recently had this happen to me and it inspired me to do a series on Thank You cards. It is important to let those people in your life know what you mean to them and how they have helped you along on your path; either to get you back onto the path or to help you continue your path.

Concord & 9th Thank You Turnabout

For the first card in the series, I will be highlighting theConcord & 9th Thank you Turnabout stamp. These Turnabout stamps are pretty neat and offer a lot of variety in building a background. The turnabout stamps do require a bit of practice and a stamp positioner. I personally use the MISTI and it has changed my stamping; The MISTI has made me a fearless stamper. With the MISTI, if I make a mistake, the stamp is in the exact same position so I can restamp and fix mistakes and also do some pretty cool techniques. The Turnabout stamps require an understanding of how to set them up and use them. I will link to the Concord & 9th website and also Jennifer McGuire’s website who have posted very helpful videos on using these stamps and setting them up for the first time.

Using the turnabout

After setting up the Turnabout stamp in my MISTI, I temporarily taped a piece of 80lb Neenah solar white to the turntable I made. For the Inks, I used all Hero Arts shadow inks in bright colors: emerald green, cornflower blue, grape juice and orange soda. I trimmed the panel down to 3 3/4“wide by 5 1/2” tall and used a Krylon silver leafing marker to color the edges.

Finishing the card

I thought the Yeti would add some whimsy to the card. The Yeti comes from My Favorite Things Beast Friends Stamp set. I like this set because you can customize the Yeti. I stamped the standing Yeti and then added a scarf and stamped a heart in his hand. I used Copic markers to color the Yeti and used some foam tape to adhere him to the card.

From the Concord & 9th stamp set I used the coordinating dies to cut out the large speech bubble onto which I stamped Thanks from the same set using Hero Arts silver Embossing Powder. I inked around the work bubble with Hero Arts Deep Blue ink and foam mounted the bubble to the card. For the hearts, I embossed a piece of 80lb Neenah Solar White card stock with the same embossing powder and used the die cut from the Concord & 9th Many Thanks set to cut out the hearts. I mounted the hearts with some Ranger Multi Medium in the matte finish.
Assembly of this card was very quick. The turnabout background makes quite an impression so very little is needed to finish the card. The speech bubble was foam mounted as well as the Yeti to add dimension.  All of the supplies I used are located below. I hope this post inspires you to thank those special people in your life and spread a bit of kindness and cheer.

Many Thanks dies
