Celebrating National Craft Month
Hello friends. I am participating in my first ever hop! On Instagram! I regularly post on Instagram and I’d love it if you join me there @sevenscrafts. The hop today has a $50 gift certificate to Scrapbook.com where I do regularly shop for my card making supplies because I like their prices, selection and fast shipping. If you are hopping along, you came from Anna Komenda @moriony and your next stop is Nicole Watt @pixelmavensretreat. For today I am sharing an adorable love you card made with the Monster Love stamp set from Concord & 9th along with other supplies that are all available at Scrapbook.com. Please read on for how I put together this cute card.
Masking
The Concord & 9th Monster Love Stamp set has two adorable monsters and sayings that fit into hearts they can hold. I thought this would be a great anniversary card or a card to let somebody special know how you feel about them. I started off by stamping the heart onto a piece of Neenah solar white 80lb card stock. I then cut out a mask of the image and placed it onto my stamped heart. I then stamped the monster with long legs onto the panel so it looks like he’s holding the heart. I removed both masks and colored the images using Copic markers. Using Hero Arts white embossing powder, I heat embossed a sentiment from the stamp set onto the heart. I don’t like coloring over embossing so I colored first and embossed second.
Spotlight blending
This monster is adorable and I wanted to give him a background to ground him and show him off and his sweet message. On a piece of masking paper, I used a Hero Arts infinity hearts die to cut out a heart. I then used the negative space (what was left over when the mask was removed) and laid that on top of my panel so the middle of the heart contained the masked monster. Using Tim Holtz stencil brushes, I applied Distress oxides in worn lipstick, squeezed lemonade, tumbled glass and shaded lilac over lapping the colors to build a rainbow. Then I used a stencil I made out of an Altenew Die, Dodec, and a Tim Holtz Stencil Brush to lay down some darker color onto the panel. I used darker versions of similar colors: picked raspberry, mustard seed, broken china, and wilted violet. This gave my monster some soft texture and the stencil added some interest to the background.
Final assembly
After removing all the masks, I cut down my panel and used a micron pen to draw an outline around the heart and added black details to the monster. I also used Ranger black enamel dots to accent his eyes. I then adhered the panel to a pre folded Hero Arts A2 Card base. This cute card is ready to tell someone how much they mean to me. Please hop along with us onInstagram. One follower on the hop will win a $50.00 gift card to Scrapbook.com. See you at the hop!
