Paper scraps Twofer and EDS awareness

To honor people to live with EDS everyday, I wanted to make some happy encouragement cards. Nothing says happy and shares hope like a rainbow. I made the rainbow paper using paper scraps. Please read along to learn how I made these cards.

On a piece of 5 1/4″ H x 4″ W, I added a lot of double sided adhesive. After covering the entire sheet with adhesive, I started to lay down strips of card stock in rainbow order. On one sheet, I laid the strips diagonally starting with red in the center. On another sheet, I laid the strips horizontally starting with red in the center. I followed a rainbow color pattern. I even added some strips that had texture and pattern because I was just using up my scraps. I trimmed off any excess pieces and made sure to fill in the top and bottom corners. 

Assembly went really quickly for both of these cards. On the diagonal card, I used the Altenew Bold Caps Alpha die set to cut out YOU from the panel. I then cut out 3 more YOU from black cardstock. I added the cardstock strip panel to the front of a top folding A2 card base made from black cardstock. I then attached the three black YOU to the colored panel YOU which allowed the letters to stand up above the card front. The sentiment is from Hero Arts You are Loved stamp set and was heat embossed with Altenew crisp white embossing powder. Some gems from Studio Katia finished off the card front. 

The second card uses the rainbow paper panel in a different way: for the die cut sentiment. On the horizontal rainbow panel to cut out Altenew’s You are Loved die. I used the same die to cut out 3 more of the same sentiment from black card stock and then I stacked all the die cuts together. This sentiment was then adhered to a 2 3/4″ vellum circle cut out using the Hero Arts Circle infinity dies. The background is representing a zebra which is the symbol for EDS. The background was made using Concord & 9th Sunshine Turnabout stamp with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment ink on a 5 1/4″ W x 4″H black card stock panel. This panel was mounted on an A2 white card base.
