Labeling Karate Gear

My kids do karate and are in black belt training which means they have extra equipment with which they train. I wanted their stuff to stand out from all the other kids so I got crafty and made some tags, bags and labels using my crafty supplies and some ingenuity. Read along to hear about what I made.

Equipment bag

The equipment they have includes: sparring gear, a bow staff and kamas. All of this equipment is kept in a big red bag that every kid has. How to make my kids bag stand out? I made some tags using my Cricut and Design Space.
In Design Space, I found a tag from Plaintain Schoolbook and some karate images from Sports Mania. Using Cricut Sans font for their names, I cut out the tags, added the images I had cut out of Cricut Vinyl and then laminated them using a laminator. I then used zip ties to add the tags to their bags.

Labelling Equipment

Most of the equipment I labeled using Mabel’s Labels. These labels are tough and can stand up to washing. You can personalize the labels and get cute designs on them too. I labeled the bow staff and each piece of sparring gear.

Making a bag for kamas

Kamas are lightweight axes. These are pointy and I thought just having them rolling around in the large equipment bag may cause damage to the kamas and the other equipment. The kids are into Minecraft so we went to Joanne’s and picked up 1/4 yard of cotton Minecraft fabric and a yard of cording. I dug out my vintage 1968 Singer sewing machine and quickly put together these bags. I used my Cricut to make some labels out of iron on vinyl to add to the bags. These bags are ready to go and look great.
I hope this post Inspired you to look around your craft supplies and use them in different ways. Have a crafty day.
