AECP Build a Scene Class
For the latest installment of my journey with Altenew Educator Academy, I used the Under the Cherry Blossom Tree stamp set to build a scene. The build a scene class had a lot of great ideas of how to put together stamps to create a vignette. The stamp set I’m using today has some lovely blossoms that would add an air of elegance to any scene. Please read on for how I assembled this card.

Building the scene
On a piece of Neenah 80lb solar white card stock, I stamped the branch outline in Gina K black amalgam ink. I then stamped the inside of the branch using Hero Arts Cup o Joe. For the flower layer, I used my Misti to stamp the flowers in Distress Ink Worn Lipstick and then stamp over it with Versa Mark ink and clear embossing powder. I then cut out a mask with the coordinating dies to protect my branch from inking the scene.
Using tumbled glass, stormy sky, old paper and bundled sage distress Oxide Inks, I inked a sky and green hills. To get some added depth, I used a creative memories Stencil with the Distress Ink mini blending tool.
Putting it together
Once I removed the mask on the tree, I stamped two birds from the stamp set so it would like like they were perched in the tree and to add some more color to the scene. I then used a T-ruler to add 2 parallel lines perpendicular to the tree with my Faber Castell Pitt markers and then connected those lines at the bottom to build a swing.
The sentiment is from the Garden Hydrangea stamp set which I stamped in Gina K amalgam ink and then clear heat embossed. I mounted the card onto a thick cardstock, trimmed it down to 5 1/2” tall and 3 3/4” wide and after mounting it into an A2 top folded card, added a thin strip of Hero Arts washi tape for added color and sparkle.

This is just a sweet card, perfect to brighten anyone’s day. I hope this card brightens your day and inspired you to look at your stamps to see which ones would work in building a scene. Adding Distress Inks to minimal stamping really can set a scene and set your stamping apart. Have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping by.
