Birthday card with masking
Papercrafting and making cards is so much fun. I really love how an idea pops into my head out of nowhere and then all of a sudden it’s realized onto a card. Ultimately paper crafting is a two dimensional medium so even though I may have the grandiose of ideas, it’s still got to fit in a 2-D medium. Enter: Masking. Masking allows for a bit of depth to your scene and especially if you have coordinating dies is simple to do. |
Happy Balloons
My inspiration came from the Concord & 9th stamp set, Happy Balloons. I love these happy Balloons and how easy it is to mask them for depth and decorate them. I decided Hero Arts Ombré Inks were the way to go on these Balloons. Ombré Inks have three colors in them so it automatically adds interest to solid stamped images.
When creating a foreground and background with a bunch of stamped images, first decide where your foreground image will be located. After stamping the first image, mask that off with some Inkadinakdo Stamp Masking Paper. I used the coordinating die set to cut out a small and large balloon. After masking the first balloon, I stamped the next balloon and continued until I had stamped all the balloons. Included with the set, are stamps that add decoration to the balloons. I stamped the large purple balloon and the teal balloon with Versamark and added WOW Copper embossing powder to make the designs stand out. For the other balloons, I added some Wink of Stella shimmer pen to add some shine and interest.
For my sentiment, I decided to cut out the happy script from the Concord& 9th set and use WOW Copper Embossing Powder to highlight the word. I also cut out the same shape from fun foam. I used Ranger Multi Medium Adhesive to adhere the foam to the die cut and the foam to the card. I also embossed Birthday from the Happy Balloons stamp set. |
To finish the card, I drew on strings with my Tombow Dual Brush markers. I cut the card to 4 3/4″ high and 4 1/8″ wide and mounted the front panel onto a Hero Arts pre folded A2 notecard.
