Ink Spray backgrounds

This month I played with different ways to make backgrounds. One way I made backgrounds was to use ink sprays. On a piece of watercolor paper, spray some water; Altenew’s Mister Mister is great for this. Then spray the paper with Altenew ink sprays. I chose Sea Glass and Antique Silver for one background and Razzleberry and Antique Gold for the other. After letting these backgrounds dry, you can use them to cut out shapes or as a focal point on a card.

After making a background using Sea Glass and Antique Silver sprays, I used the Terrific Tags Die set to cut out the tag. The Merry was cut out using the Holiday Script words die set from Silver Brush card stock. The &bright sentiment is from the Holiday Tag Sentiments stamp and die set and heat embossed in platinum embossing powder. The snowflake was built using Layered Snowflakes 2 with Sea Shore Gradient Gradient papers.

The background on this card was made with Razzleberry and Antique Gold sprays. The snowflake is from the Layered Snowflake 2 set.

The sentiment is the new Wishing die cut from Gold mirrored card stock and Tiny Sentiment stamp is embossed with Razzleberry embossing powder.

Antique Gold Sequins finish off the look.

Stamped Backgrounds

Using background stamps or repeatedly stamping an image gives a nice background where you can add a focal point.

The Mistletoe Wreath stamp, die, embossing folder and stencil bundle is really fabulous.

Here I used the Mistletoe stamp to repeatedly stamp around a card base.

I die cut a piece of Gold Mirrored Cardstock and then ran it through the embossing folder.

The sentiment banner is part of the stamp and dies of this set. I used Antique Gold embossing powder for the sentiment and banner.

The Dotted Pinwheels background stamp is a great dotted background. I stamped it once in Galactic Stream ink and then in embossing ink and Antique Gold embossing powder.

To have the sentiment stand out, I used the Magic Burst Hot Foil plate on vellum. Using vellum allows the background to show through and allows the sentiment to stand out from the background.

The Wishing die was cut out and the Tiny Sentiments heat embossed with Antique Gold embossing powder.

Embossing folders

This month Altenew is releasing some beautiful embossing folders. For all of these folders, I used mixed media inks to ink up the embossed side of the folder. I then ran the folder through my machine and the ink settles over the paper and shows off the image.

This card features the Starry Patterns embossing folder.

First I used the Glacier Caves pigment ink bundle to ink up the inside of the embossing folder. I then ran a piece of white paper through the embossing folder being careful not to shift the paper.

The sentiment is from the All About Wishes die set and the Happy is from the Sentiment Stamp set and was cut out using the Featured Sentiments die set.

This card features the Happy Holidays embossing folder.

First I used the Green Fields pigment ink bundle to ink up the inside of the embossing folder. I used just the three green inks for an ombre look.

I then ran a piece of white paper through the embossing folder being careful not to shift the paper.

The sentiment is from the All About Wishes die set and the Happy is from the Sentiment Stamp set and was cut out using the Featured Sentiments die set.

This card features the Pine Forest embossing folder.

First I used the Glacier Caves pigment ink bundle to ink up the inside of the embossing folder. I added drops from the Altenew White Ink spray to simulate snow.

I then ran a piece of white paper through the embossing folder being careful not to shift the paper.

The sentiment is from the All About Wishes die set and the Happy is from the Sentiment Stamp set and was cut out using the Featured Sentiments die set.

This card features the Poinsettia Cluster embossing folder.

First I used the Red Cosmos pigment ink bundle to ink up the inside of the embossing folder.

I then ran a piece of white paper through the embossing folder being careful not to shift the paper.

The sentiment is from the All About Wishes die set and the Happy is from the Sentiment Stamp set and was cut out using the Featured Sentiments die set.
