Wow! This is a really amazing release. Let’s just say, I couldn’t stop creating with these products. I hope that if you are joining the hop today, you are also amazed at all the projects from the talented creators on this hop, like Eva Bussom and your next stop: Hussena Calcuttawala. If you would like more information on the products or more inspiration, check out the Altenew Card Blog.
Today Altenew is releasing some great new products. Within this release are some hot foil plates. I have recently started hot foiling and wanted to try hot foiling on mediums other than white cardstock. Here are some examples of hot foiling on other media.
Colored card stock
The Chevron Foil plate is such a classic design. I paired with with gray cardstock and moonstone foil. I love this look because it looks like a pinstripe suit!
The sentiment is from the You are Wonderfully Made die which I die cut 3 times and on the top used the Tropical Fiesta Watercolor Brush markers to blend color over the die cuts. Sprigs of vellum cut using the Itty Bitty Florals die set add to the classic look of this card.
This card was actually a huge mistake. I had intended on foiling navy cardstock with the Antique Blossoms die. Unfortunately the foil ended up everywhere. However, I liked the grungy look so I die cut a piece of white cardstock with the same die, inlaid it into the depressions of the image and loved the look. I finished this off with a sentiment I had previously made using the Sentiment Banners foil and die set which pairs perfectly with Sentiment Strips stamp set and Obsidian Ink. The finished card size is 4 1/2″ x 6″.
Vellum
Boy, I love a coordinating coloring stencil. I foiled the Vibrant Florals onto vellum which was surprisingly easy. I attached my vellum to a cardbase by folding over the excess vellum and tacking that to the back of the card front. I then lined up the stencil on top of the vellum, removed the vellum and ink blended onto the card front. I kept repeating this until the entire image was blended. I used the Spring Bouquet ink set and Golden Sunset inks for the flower centers. I finished this off with a sentiment I had previously made using the Sentiment Banners foil and die set which pairs perfectly with Sentiment Strips stamp set and Obsidian Ink.
acetate
Yeah, I wasn’t sure I could do this either. It is hard to photograph the shine and delicate gold foil lines of the image. Trust me, this looks cool. Make sure to cut your acetate with a larger height than your card front so you can fold the acetate over the top and bottom of the card front. I used the coordinating stencil to add some color in these inks: Spring Bouquet, Sweet Dreams, Pocketful of Sunshine, Tropical Forest, Lapis Lazuli and Shades of Purple. The sentiment is heat embossed using Antique Gold embossing powder on the cardstock (not the acetate) and is from the Enchanted Iris stamp set.
Bonus cards
From all the die cutting showcasing some of the products from this release, I had some items left over. Although this project doesn’t show any foiling, I thought I would share it anyway. This is the Detailed Web Cover die which was cut out of a piece of cardstock that had been blended with my version of an Altenew Rainbow: Cherry Blossom, Red Cosmos, Warm and Cozy, Pocketful of Sunshine, Green Meadows, Cool Summer Nights, and Shades of Purple. I attached the You are Wonderfully Made sentiment and a few Antique Gold Sequins for some shine.
Yep, this is a big stamp set and one with a beautiful pair of floral images. The layered floral is stunning and I decided to ink it up with a no line look. This floral is pretty intricate and the outline layer is needed to get the layers to line up. I stamped the outline layer in Vanilla Cream ink which is my go to for no line images. The flowers were inked in: blush, canyon clay, boral berry and velvet and the leaves in: firefly, just green and mountain pine. The flower center: buttercream, warm sunshine and snapdragon.
To complete the card, I used the Organic Linen 3D embossing folder to give the background some texture. I blended Limestone and SilverStone ink over the raised edges. The sentiment is from the stamp set and was heat embossed with Antique Gold embossing powder and then popped up on the card.
