Welcome, Spider Mum, to the Altenew Paint-A-Flower family. This newest edition to the monthly release contains two delicately leaved flowers attached with one stem and a bunch of leaves. If you are hopping along you have just come from the amazingly prolific Terri Koszler and this is your last stop on the hop. You can check out the Altenew Card Blog for more information. Thank you for hopping along and I hope you catch some inspiration from the amazing talent from the Altenew designers.

Paint-A-Flower

Picture

When I first have a stamp set like the Paint-A-Flower, I first stamp it in Altenew Obsidian black ink. I then try embossing powder. I like to use: clear, white or gold. I then stamp it in a light ink for no line watercoloring. Today, I have three examples of this spider mum in each of these outlines. I made a cute set of all occasion note cards that will really brighten someone’s day.

For each card, I stamped the PAF spider mum image onto watercolor cardstock. I used the Altenew artist watercolor pan set to color. I first laid down some water and then added in paint, building up layers of color. I cut down the panel to a smaller size. On a wide folding A2 card base, I stamped One Day at a Time background using Pink Diamond ink. A strip of Emerald Gold Washi helped to add interest and hide the transition between the background stamped panels. I added sequins for some added sparkle. I did not add a sentiment on because these looked cute as an all occasion notecard set.

  1. Omg—all three cards are beautiful! I think my favorite is the white embossed card. It really does provide a no line look. 🙂

  2. Beautiful notecards, the recipient will be so happy.
They have such cheery colors, just what’s needed right now.
    Thanks for sharing!

  3. LOVE these. What a great idea to try those three things to play with your new stamp. I’ll try it.

  4. These are beautiful. I love to stamp in black outline or emboss or on occasion, color in the no-line technique! It depends on how confident I’m feeling about my watercolor skills that day! LOL

  5. These are beautiful. I love to stamp in black outline or emboss or on occasion, color in the no-line technique! It depends on how confident I’m feeling about my watercolor skills that day! LOL

  6. So pretty! Love the designs you’ve used. The background is a perfect addition! Thanks so much for the great inspiration! Take care! 🙂

  7. Both cards are so lovely. Similar designs, yet different looks just by changing the color schemes! Can’t wait to get my PAF so I can play with all the inspiration I’ve gotten from this hop! Thanks for sharing yours!

  8. In this case I think I like the crisp black outline the most. Kudos for being able to paint inside the narrow petals so well. Isn’t this stamp amazing?

  9. Gorgeous set of spider mum cards and amazing coloring on all three! I love them without a sentiment too.

  10. Beautiful note cards – each one different but still looks like a set of cards with the same background and stamp. Lovely techniques used. Thanks for sharing your talent and ideas with us. Great inspiration! 🙂 Lovely finish to this blog hop.

  11. Final on the hop and still great cards throughout the hop. Great design ideas for this stamp. Waiting on my set to arrive.

  12. I love this awesome card set, Amy, & those mums look beautiful in all three ways! They are on my wish list for Christmas!

  13. Love this set of cards! Beautiful flower and that washi tape really is such a great finishing touch to the cards.

  14. Pauline Abeysekera

These are beautiful! I love the smaller panel centred on the coordinated and pretty background.

  15. it’s so interesting how the hard lines can look really good with some colors and then though no line cards can look really good with other colors and then embossing just adds a whole different look as well! Thank you for the side-by-side comparison!

    1. Hi Jessica, thanks for stopping by. Each way the stamp is stamped (light ink, black ink or embossing) really changes the look and feel of the card. Thanks for noticing that I wanted to show off how you can use this stamp three different ways to get three different emotions.

    1. Hi Retta, thanks for stopping by. I agree! sometimes a sentiment just gets in the way. This set is so lovely that I felt as though words would have taken away from the stamp. Although the sentiments that come with the stamp set are really nice.

  16. These are lovely 🙂 I love cards without sentiments for a nice notecard set or adding a sentiment when it’s needed for a birthday, sympathy, retirement, ,

    1. Hi Laura, thanks for stopping by. I agree, sometimes a sentiment is just not what is needed and it is nice to have a set of cards to give as a gift or use for many occasions. I thought these would make a nice gift. Thanks for your comment.

  17. Oh my gosh, what an exquisite job you did. Impeccable choices for the colors and using the Altenew One Day at a Time stamp for a larger background truly inspirational. That stamp is now at the top of my list along with this month’s PAF.

    1. Mary, Thanks for your lovely comment. The One Day at a Time is a really great background stamp…check it out! and this Spidermum is so easy to color and is such a pretty flower. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hi Mirella
Thanks so much for hopping through. And I agree, this stamp set is lovely. Again, Altenew does not disappoint and releases another amazing PAF. This is definitely the subscription to get.
