Altenew Leafy Border Die

Hello and thank you for stopping by. Today I am taking part in an Instagram Hop celebrating all things Altenew Educator Program. I became an Altenew Educator in March of 2019 and I consider it to be a real milestone in my crafty journey. To celebrate all the inspiration of the Altenew Educator Program, I am joining my fellow educators in sharing some inspiration from our favorite classes from the program. I chose Creative Coloring with Artist Markers. In the two cards I made today, I used alcohol ink and not the actual Artist Markers to make a really cool background. A good background really makes a card. Inspired by the Altenew Academy class, Creative Coloring with Artist Markers, I made a background using a variety of blue, green and yellow alcohol inks. When I make a alcohol ink background, I start by adding some Alcohol blending solution to Yupo paper. Then I layer the inks and use an ink blower to move the ink around the paper. I love how alcohol ink has such movement. I layer the inks until the 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ panel was covered.

The Altenew Leafy Border die is an intricate die which cuts out a border that is 1 3/4″ H x 5 1/2″ W. The die cuts out different shapes of leaves as well. On the alcohol panel, I die cut out the leafy border twice. I then die cut a landscape 4 1/4″ H x 5 1/2″ W card panel with the leafy border die.

For the landscape card panel, I stamped a sentiment, I’ve been thinking of you, from the Altenew Simple Sentiments stamp set using Altenew Obsidian ink. Then I added Versa Mark ink and then Altenew clear embossing powder. Behind the card panel, I added a strip of the alcohol ink background and adhered the die cut leaves using spray adhesive. The whole panel was then added to a landscape 4 1/4″ H x 5 1/2″ W card ​base.

The leftover die cut leaves bring a punch of color and movement to a simple card.  On a 4″W x 5 1/4″ H card base, I stamped one of the blocks from Block Print stamp set using Evening Gray ink. Using a Copic Multiliner in sepia, I traced a line around the stamp. I then added a die cut “hello” from the Altenew Envelope Liner Die set using Altenew Gold Foil paper. From the left over Leafy Border die cuts, I carefully cut apart the leaves and added them to the card front using Nuvo Deluxe Liquid Adhesive.  The card panel was added to a top folding note card that had Morning Frost ink blended onto the edges.
