Altenew December Die Release

Altenew Bursting with Creativity Stand-Alone Dies Release Blog Hop

Picture

Hello and welcome to this special release from Altenew of stand-alone dies. If you are hopping along with us you’ve come from uber talented Keisha Charles of The Paper Mint. Your next stop is paper crafting prodigy, Maryam Perez.
This release is really jam packed with so many cool products. My favorites are the Dotted Lines Debossing cover die which makes for a subtle background and the Just Leaves dies which will be great on their own or as a background for any floral composition. Check out the full release below:

Thanks for joining me on this blog hop. Keep reading to see the projects I made using the items from this release!

Dotted Lines Debossing Cover Die

Picture

You’ll see this beauty again in this blog post because it is just the best subtle background. Here, I inked up a background with ink, used the Dotted Lines Debossing cover die to add rich detail. Altenew’s Mid-Century die is a nice combination with the Dotted Lines Debossing Die as it accentuates the radial pattern of the Debossing Die.  To add whimsy and softness, I added a floral die cut from Regal Beauty stamp set. The sentiment is from Best Sentiments die set.

Swirl Motif with Layered Wood Flower

Picture

The Swirl Motif Die is a detail die and a background. You can die cut the detail layer out of darker paper or out of Altenew Gold Mirror Cardstock like I’ve done here and layer it onto a lighter color to really accentuate the design. This is a gatefold card made by taking a piece of 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper, cutting in the middle along the 11″ side to get a piece of paper that is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. The paper is then scored along the 8 1/2″ side at 2 1/8″ from each end, those are folded to make a gatefold card that is 5 1/2″ tall x 4 1/4″ wide. The Swirl Motif are glued onto the “doors” of the card and the Layered Wood Flower die is added to keep the sides together. The Layered Wood Flower is another great addition to this release.

Just Leaves Die Set with Scalloped Creative Edges

Picture

This is the one die set to purchase from this set. These leaves come in a variety of shapes and leaf amounts which can be cut and rearranged for a multitude of possibilities. Here, I cut the leaves out of two different colors of green patterned scrap paper I had from my stash. I paired the leaves with the jar from the Eucalyptus Jar stamp and die set onto which I blended some ink. The tag is also from the Eucalyptus Jar stamp set and I used some baker’s twine to attach the tag to the jar. The card front panel has a beautiful decorative edge courtesy of the Creative Edges: Scallop. This die set also comes with the decorative dots you can add to the scallop edge. Notice here, I decided to have the dots further away from the edge of the scallop to accentuate the design. On the card base, I blended the same color ink as the jar so the dots and scalloped edge of the card front could stand out.

Woven Heart Die Set

Picture

The Woven Heart Dies when put together, make the most adorable patchwork quilt of a heart. I paired this heart with a bold sentiment from the Eucalyptus Jar Stamp set which had been embossed in Altenew Antique Gold Powder. The Dotted Lines Debossing Cover Die adds subtle interest in the background of this adorable heart. I used some metallic papers to die cut the heart to really make it special.

Floral Doodles Die Set

Picture

These flowers from Floral Doodles are just so sweet. I cut them out of a light and darker shade card stock of the same color. I paired the flowers with the leftover leaves from Just Leaves. Before adding these die cuts to the card bases, I brushed some ink to provide a soft backdrop for these flowers to land. The sentiment is from the Eucalyptus Jar stamp set. Altenew sequins in Antique Gold provided the finishing touch.

Layered Wood Flower with Linear Crossroads Die

Picture

The Layered Wood Flower Die set cuts this beautiful large bloom and leaves. This flower was cut from a series of metallic papers allowing for a lot of depth and shine. To ground the flower, a die cut from Linear Crossroads in a warm gray was just perfect. Twigtastic and Linear Crossroads are two must have dies which will provide just that touch of depth and texture to your project. The sentiment is from the Eucalyptus Jar Stamp set and was heat embossed with Altenew Platinum Embossing Powder. I love the simplicity of this card because it shows off all the shine and detail of the dies.

Also included in this release are Masking and Adhesive Sheets. The Adhesive sheets are thin and can be used to die cut so you can easily adhere thin die cuts without a lot of precise gluing. The Masking Sheets can also be cut out using dies and will easily protect your design from inking. These are two must have products for your craft room.

  1. Amy, all of your cards are beautiful but my fave is the sorry card with flowers in the jar. I love that one! Thank you for the inspiration! 🎄❤️

    1. Thanks, Cherry. The sorry card was very easy to put together and that Eucalyptus Jar set is so versatile with the large image and so many sentiments.

  2. My only problem with the release is it sold out really really fast. I got a few before they were gone but I’ll have to wait to get others.

  3. I can’t wait to get my hands on the release. I wish I would have ordered everything. I will eventually, what a great release.

  5. Amazing cards! Really incredible! My favorite is the first card with the blue flower and lovely blue background. Gorgeous!

  6. Love these beautiful cards! Altenew has done it again – I adore each one of the new dies. Thanks for the inspiration.

  7. Hi, Amy –
Wow, what a treasure trove of riches! I looked at the first card and thought it was pretty but the second one took my breath away. I LOVE that swirl motif, the color of the paper, the way the Wood Rose flower looks atop the swirl…. Wow, a knockout. Despite the die being the same and the main color being blue, the last entry with the Wood Rose looks markedly different. Still gorgeous, just different. The use of the Linear Crossroads die is smart; it really sets off the flower from the background. The woven heart card is spectacular, esp for its debossed background. I also love the “Just Leaves” die and what you did with it in the “sorry” card. Geez, you have done an outstanding job of showcasing most elements of the release. I also like that you are featuring the adhesive sheets. Well-done !

Happy Holidays to you and wishes for a peaceful, healthy 2021.

    1. Hi Lori
Thank you so much for all your great comments and feedback. I am glad you enjoyed my designs and for some reason I keep making blue flowers. My blue period? But you’re right, even though the flowers are the same, those backgrounds make all the difference. Thank you for stopping by!

  8. Beautiful cards! Colors and die cuts of flowers, leaves, and backgrounds are so pretty! Such great inspiration.

    1. Thanks, Susan. Yes, that debossing die is a must have. The subtle texture is just perfect of a bit of texture and interest.

  9. Such great cards, love your work and layouts each time I see your work. You gave the release sets a beautiful debut. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Andrea, Thank you so much for the lovely comments and I really appreciate you stopping by and checking out my work.
