Welcome to another amazing monthly release. If you are hopping along with us, you have just come from Jaycee Gaspar. Your next stop is Therese Calvird. For more information or to start the hop over from the beginning, please visit the Altenew Card Blog.
For this month, most of the card projects are using a spotlight watercolor background to set off the stamp sets. Each background was made using the Altenew Artist’s Watercolor pan set, Altenew Artist Watercolor Brushes and Altenew watercolor paper. To make these backgrounds, use the #18 flat brush to add water to the paper, then use the Artist’s Watercolors to add color. Play with the amount of water and pigment until you get the background you want. When choosing colors, I use analogous colors to make sure the colors have a seamless blend.
ALTENEW BUILD-A-GARDEN Daffodil Delight
The bright watercolor spotlight background sets off the beautifully stamped and stenciled images from the Build a Garden: Daffodil Delight.
The daffodils were colored using inks from Rock Collection, Green Valley and Golden Sunset. The daffodils are large images and I thought they would look great on a slim line card.
I added the daffodils to a slim line card cut out using the Nesting Slim Line Rectangles die set. The sentiment is embossed using Copper Embossing Powder.
ALTENEW CRAFT-A-FLOWER: Open Peony
This gorgeous Craft a Flower: Open Peony was cut from the Gradient Cardstock: New Purple. The green leaves are from another Gradient Cardstock set, Green Meadows.
The Gold Foil .5″ washi tape sets off the Open Peony and grounds the floral image. The sentiment in Antique Gold Embossing Powder adds shine.
ALTENEW MINI DELIGHT: Like a Star
After watercoloring the background, I stamped the star image from the Mini Delight: Like a Star all over the background in Limestone Ink.
The star balloon is stamped using ink from Pocketful of Sunshine. I added the twine as a balloon string to continue the 3D look of the card.
The sentiment was embossed with White Embossing Powder on black cardstock and cut out using the die set: Featured Sentiments.
ALTENEW PAINT-A-FLOWER: Wood Anemone
I love the large and open floral of the Paint a Flower: Wood Anemone. I colored it in using Artist Markers but wanted to keep a subtle look.
For the leaves, I used Firefly and touched the marker tip with Limestone. This adds a gray tint to the green leaves. I repeated the same with the flower petals using Pink Diamond and Limestone Artist Markers.
Gold Foil .5″ Washi Tape with a black shadow from the Fine Liner Pen Set give the large flower a grounding point. The sentiment is embossed using Copper Embossing Powder.
ALTENEW PROJECT KIT: Magnolia & Blooms
For the Magnolia & Blooms project kit, I used navy cardstock as the background. The paper was spritzed with Antique Silver metallic shimmer spray. The sentiment was embossed in Antique Gold Embossing Powder.
The embossing folder has a coordinating coloring stencil in the kit. After using the embossing folder, I used the coordinating stencil to color it in. The ink collections I used: Cherry Blossom, Tranquility and Green Valley.
I fussy cut out the image and added it to the top left corner of the navy blue card base.
